Pain. The well. The moon.
I guess I’m feeling a little down these days. Losing faith in humanity to be honest. Has everyone lost their ability for sound judgment or reasoning? Are we to devolve back into dogma and radicalism? Is this what the 21st century is going to be about? Fundamentalism – the ride back to obscurity.
Anyway, here’s another idea for a song.
Death of a Nation

Yesterday I heard an interview on the radio with a delegate from the Republican convention: “I’m a conservative.” he said “This country was founded on conservative values”. No. It wasn’t. That’s revisionist history. The United States of America were founded on the values of enlightenment. The founders were forward-looking intellectuals who dreamed up a new society based on freedom and equality for all, firmly against the entanglement of church and power. Does this sound conservative to you?
The ongoing saga of Sarah Palin has me troubled beyond anything I’ve ever felt before. Never mind the incompetence, the cronyism or the book burning tendencies. Forget her support of creationism or the fact that she’s almost never stepped outside Alaska – let alone the US – and that she could potentially become the most powerful person on the planet. Forget all that. Just focus on the following for a moment:
“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God,” she exhorted the congregants. “That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.”
“I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that”
