Are you shading yourself from the light, preparing/considering to look towards it after having made the step to stand in it?
At first sight I didn’t know what the do with it, now it is settling.

Come to think of it, you might want to consider the artwork to be self-portraits and variations of that. It seems to fit in with the development in your music over time and the idea behind Heliothrope as it stands now.

It’s the ambiguity of it that I like. The fact that it isn’t clear if the move is towards the light or away from it. Your idea about self-portraits isn’t bad at all btw…

  4. Rowley says:

The hand for me signifies a barrier between the glare of popularity/the mainstream, to move in your won direction.
    But thats just me.

  5. Rowley says:

your own direction I should say.

    Interesting…
There’s certainly a shield concept at play in the pic… which can imply many things.

Ambiguity, that’s what I couldn’t figure out. Heliotrope set me on the idea the it was about being on a decision point of turning towards light but I couldn’t add it up in my mind. The idea that it might also be a move away after a move towards made me look again.
There seems to be a tense thinking going on, which might be as well that after a turn towards the light, it wasn’t a clear cut deal if that was the right thing to do or the impressions needed to be thought about. Or…

What now jumps to mind is that when someone says ‘I’ve seen the light’, it’s supposed to be positive, but is it always? Is it that simple?

There is a lot more going on than I initially thought. Possibilities indeed. I like it. And my brain hurts :)

    “Is it that simple?”
    Never ;-)
Above ambiguity it’s also uncertainty (can I reach the light?) as well as consequence (Icarus et all). In nature heliotropism is an absolute, an organism either follows the sun or doesn’t; but philosophically – at least the way I picture it – it’s much more vague. Besides, I’m far too tortured for anything absolute…
